One of our favorite red wines! (Maybe-our-favorite..) Put your trust in it for a gathering of friends and you will be compensated with congratulations from everyone! A red, dry wine from Papaioannou vineyards at Nemea, 100% Pinot Noir, Organic.
Bottled at the family winery in Ancient Nemea, it is characterized by the aromas of red fruit, cedar and blackcurrant on a vanilla background. The mouth is delicate and rich, with a nice acidity, typical of this variety, with a delicious and juicy aftertaste. Combined excellently with red meat, rich and smoked cheeses, pasta, meats and other fatty flavors.
Pinot Noir Papaioannou stays in an oak barrels for six to eight months and twelve in the bottle. It can be aged for 5 to 7 years. We do not recommend in any way to not enjoy it immediately, but if you get 2-3 bottles more, it may be worth aging at least one bottle!
Since it has a moderate body and a very fine taste, it is easily and enjoyably drunk on its own. Served at 17 – 18 degrees. Enjoy!
Thanasis Papaioannou is one of the first producers to conceive and promote the idea that wine should retain its special characteristics, derived from the variety, the position of the vineyard, as well as the procedures carried out by the viticulturist producer of a biological balance. It has a large privately owned vineyard in various areas of Nemea and has grown in every place the vineyard variety that fits perfectly.
His son, Giorgos, a chemist – oenologist, continues his tradition and works creatively both in his own vineyards and in the modern winery in Ancient Nemea. The aim of both is the continuous improvement of the produced wines, the maintenance of high standards of hygiene and organoleptic character as well as experimentation with new types of wines.
The size of the privately owned vineyard (570 acres), the dispersal of some vineyards in areas of the area characterized by differences in the ecosystem and the age of the vineyards lead to a multi-dynamic effect. Helping the quality of this result is the right choice of a sufficient number of varieties and the deep knowledge of the forefathers about everything that relates to the vine and its cultivation.
